Historian trending is the process of collecting, storing, and visualizing time-series data from operational systems to track how conditions change over time. In utility operations, it allows teams to review past performance, identify patterns, and make informed decisions about current and future system behavior.

Data historians record continuous streams of information from SCADA, sensors, software programs, field devices, weather data, and more. Historian trending takes that stored data and turns it into graphs, charts, or reports that show trends in equipment performance, system demand, or environmental impact.
