Conversion Services

Any time a company transitions from legacy systems to new systems, a huge effort is required just to populate databases and displays and to rewrite custom programs. Additionally, there are times that management desires to streamline maintenance and personnel when essentially the same information is stored in two different, yet both ‘current’ systems. There are many advantages of doing a conversion over manually rebuilding and Primate Technologies, Inc. has tools in place to assist in automating conversions, including methods to propagate modifications and changes through the system rather than manually make changes twice while running systems in parallel.

The most significant advantage in performing a conversion is to retain the investment previously made while also taking advantage of capabilities of newer systems and this may be accomplished since converting does not require a conversion to the exact same functionality. P-Tech may incorporate additional features supported by a new system while also converting the data from the older legacy system with the exact same functionality.

P-Tech works with customers to determine which system is the ideal system for maintenance and then provides a “real-time” conversion service to automatically convert the maintenance activities of updates and modification from one system to the other.

A few benefits of a conversion process are as follows:

  1. Operators and users will be able to focus on the benefits of the new system, without first verifying that there are not inconsistencies between the existing legacy system and the new system; therefore, they will be able to respond more quickly to critical and emergency operational situations.
  2. Maintenance staff will be able to focus on their performance of seemingly endless tasks required as a new system is built, tested and installed, without the additional time and expense of manually rebuilding databases, displays or programs.
  3. There is less chance of introducing human error through conversion than would be introduced in a manual build process. Since displays, databases and programs are all linked, fewer mistakes are made and safety is maintained.
  4. Conversions retain the years of investments made in that legacy system while also providing new functionality!
